There are many attractions to enjoy in this charming historical town which is the gateway to the Darling River Run. Relax at the free Artesian Bore Baths, where water springs from the Great Artesian Basin at a naturally heated temperature of 41.5 degrees. This water is estimated to be around two million years old with reputed therapeutic qualities. The town is a former paddle steamer port which is an hour’s drive from Lighting Ridge where you can explore opal mines and fossick on red river banks. Around an hour and a half’s drive west will take you to Pilliga National Park, where you can view rugged beauty and important aboriginal sites. The river teems with cod and yellow-belly and is an attractive fishing location.
