You are a GP Specialist with a hands-on approach to governance and an organisational leadership role in patient care, guiding the direction of the service. You provide strategic clinical authority, drive quality improvement, and embed culturally safe models of care across multidisciplinary teams. You thrive on mentoring GPs, registrars, and junior doctors, supporting their development while setting the standard for clinical excellence.
You bring strong business acumen and work closely with practice management and other stakeholders to ensure services run ethically and sustainably. Your experience in general practice in Aotearoa, commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and passion for hauora Māori shape the way you lead. Equity, collaboration, and manaakitanga guide your decision-making, and you are motivated by the chance to create both clinical and operational impact.
Mō te Whakahaere - About the Organisation
This organisation is an iwi-led primary care service delivering community-facing, whānau-centred care embedded in tikanga Māori. Governed by the iwi authority, it employs around 550 staff across its portfolio, including approximately 200 in health services: GPs, ECPs, dentists, RNs, nurse practitioners, prescribers, support workers, and allied health professionals, supported by clear, centralized processes.
The service operates four primary care facilities and one large health hub, offering:
- Kaumātua support, outreach and screening programs
- Midwifery, mental health, and addiction services
- Māori healing services
Facilities are RNZCGP-accredited, public health training authorities, and INZ-accredited, providing supervision for overseas specialists and local trainees. The practices serve ~18,000 enrolled patients, 65–70% Māori/Pasifika, with communities experiencing varying levels of deprivation and complex health needs.
